BAYELSA: DICKSON'S FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF ABSCONDS WITH GOVT PROPERTY....GOVT SAYS HE MUST RETURN ALL PROPERTIES IN HIS POSSESSION

Barely six months after his resignation as the Chief of Staff to the Bayelsa State governor (Abuja office), a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dikivie Ikiogha is yet to return some of the government properties in his possession in accordance with the Public service rules. The government has therefore ordered him to return all properties in his possession. A source in Government House told journalists that in defiance to the Public/civil service rules, the former Chief of Staff only returned some properties  while others are still being kept in his custody. The source said, "In accordance with the administration’s principle of transparency and accountability, the Government reported the
matter to the police, no public officer, after leaving office has the right to withhold government properties."However, instead of doing the needful by returning the remaining
properties in his possession, the former Chief of staff headed for court asking for injunction to stop police from arresting him. Ikiogha, after leaving office as the Chief of Staff, Abuja office is still having some government properties in his custody. "It is clearly stated in the public/civil service rules that any official that is leaving the office should handover properties in his/her possessions to the most senior officer in the Ministry, Department or Agencies."Instead of handing over all the properties, Ikiogha, only returned some and kept others. The idea of asking him to return the properties should not be politicised. It is not aimed at witch hunting him but he should do the needful.Meanwhile, the government has concluded arrangement to drag its former Chief of Staff to court, if he refuses to return the properties within the stipulated period.

BAYELSA POLLS: ALAIBE IS DROPPING OBASANJO, BUHARI's NAMES TO RAISE FUNDS - IJAW GROUP

The ambition of a former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ndutimi Alaibe to contest the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State may have turned controversial with a socio-cultural group, Ijaw Patriotic Front, accusing him of using the name of President Muhammadu Buhari and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to raise funds in a manner that could embarrass the two leaders.According to the IPF, Alaibe has been allegedly going round to some top executives in the banking and financial sector, soliciting for funds on the guise that both Buhari and Obasanjo had promised to back his governorship ambition. BAYELSA POLL: TENSION GRIPS APC AS DEFECTED PDP CHAIR SLUMPS AT TOWN HALL MEETING

With less than three months to the December 5 governorship election, major tragedy was averted on Saturday in Nembe, Bayelsa State following the sudden slump of the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Col. Sam Inokoba (rtd), who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During the incident which happened at a Town Hall meeting in Nembe, tension, fear and apprehension was said to have gripped the leadership of the APC. It was however not clear whether journalists from both print and electronic media were compromised from writing the report of a major incident that took place in public domain. But an eyewitness at the forum who pleaded anonymity said "something funny happened and you don't expect everything to be made public." Sources at the event said the programme was on-going when Inokoba suddenly collapsed and was rushed to a local hospital where he was said to be under intensive care as efforts were being made by medical personnel to stabilise his condition. The Timipre Sylva-led APC leadership in

THE HEART OF GOVERNOR DICKSON'S POLITICS- FRANCIS AGBO

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State is a leader who defies the familiar categorizations and typologies of Nigerian public service. Since his swearing in on February 14, 2012, he has always been at home with the values and sensibilities of the creeks and Bayelsa’s rural communities. But he is also comfortable in the world of wonky policymaking and urbane governance. The governor is thus as close as it gets to the archetypal twenty first century public servant. These attributes, in conjunction with his organic involvement in the Ijaw struggle, have earned him the adulatory name of the Countryman Governor.
It is precisely this facility with the lexicons of both the haves and the have-nots, this intimate familiarity with the problems and anxieties of the diverse demographics of his state that has paradoxically become a minor political irritant for the governor; for the exhibition of such an elevated governing temperament in a political milieu of crass opportunism and party-hopping is bound to be misunderstood by those beholden to old templates of political mobilization and governance. Such a comprehensive political resume is unintelligible to those invested in stifling the masses and facilitating the aggrandizement of parasitic preservers of unearned privileges. It is in the tradition of governance in Bayelsa State and in
