Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has described his colleagues elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as leaders whose enviable record of performance could hardly be surpassed in the political history of Nigeria.The Governor, stated this at the weekend when he led a high-powered delegation of notable personalities from the state to attend the marriage ceremony of Mr Ebipere Clark, son of Ijaw foremost leader, Chief Edwin Clark at Effurun in Delta State.Hon. Dickson, who was full of praises for Chief Clark and his Delta State counterpart, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, noted that, the take-off performance of the governor has proved him as a worthy leader that would consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and continue to make the PDP proud.More photos after the cut..
According to him, "I want to thank the Governor of Delta State, who has started doing so well as only a PDP governor can do. We all are happy and proud of what you have started doing in Delta State and that is only what a PDP governor can do. You can't expect anything less.
The Bayelsa State Governor, who had earlier attended the holy matrimony of daughter of the immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at St Cyprian's Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, urged married couples to live exemplary and responsible lifestyles that would enable their offspring to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of society.
Extolling the leadership qualities of Chief Clark, who is a member of the PDP board of trustees and a former Federal Commissioner of Information, Governor Dickson commended the bride and groom families for giving the celebrants quality education and training.Describing the marriage institution as a school, where nobody graduates from, he stressed the need for couples to remain committed to each other, make and correct their mistakes, even as he urged parents and other well wishers not to interfere in the affairs of their married children and friends.
Earlier, the Delta State Governor and Chairman of the occasion, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa had also described Chief Clark as a father figure, not only in the Niger Delta, but throughout the country and charged the newly wed to make submission and love their watchword.
In his remarks, Chief Clark expressed appreciation to Governor Dickson, his Delta State colleague, Sen. Okowa, well wishers and friends of both families and those he described as his political sons and associates for making him proud with their presence at the event.
Some other dignitaries at the occasion, include representatives of Taraba and Akwa Ibom State Governors, Mr J.D. Williams and Chief Idongesit Ikanga respectively, former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, ranking Senator James Manager, PDP Deputy National Chairman, South South, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, President of Ijaw National Congress, Barr.
