OHANEZE NDIGBO THROW WEIGHT BEHIND GOV DICKSON, AS GOV PLEDGES SUSTAINABLE PEACE AND SECURITY

As political activities gather momentum, ahead of the December 5 Governorship election in the Bayelsa State, Governor Seriake Dickson, the Pan Igbo socio- cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo in the State has thrown its weight behind the Governor.The Ohaneze Ndigbo, who gave their endorsement, when they paid a courtesy call on Governor Dickson at Government House, Yenagoa, also presented him with an award of Good Governance and Equity and a copy of the Holy Bible, as a mark of appreciation for his landmark achievements in his first tenure.Receiving the awards, Governor Dickson commended them for being peaceful and law-abiding, noting that, they have played very significant roles in the development of commerce and other business activities as well as the aspirations of the people of the state in various fields of human endeavor.Governor Dickson noted that, the people of the state see the Ndigbos, as Bayelsans, because they have taken the state as their home, assuring that, his admnistration will not relent in maintaining the already existing peace and stability to ensure that, they carry out their daily activities, without any form of molestation.While urging the them to live in peace and harmony, Governor Dickson stated that, Bayelsa will remain home for all those, who mean well for the State, stressing that, his administration has worked hard to create a harmonious relationship among the various ethnic nationalities, since its inception.In his words: “I like to thank the Ndigbo community for being peaceful and law-abiding, as I have been following all your activities and as all reports show; even during critical issues of national interest, where some people travel to their homes and states, you have remained here, identifying with the state, so by virtue of that you are Bayelsans.I enjoin you to ask your people to come out en masse with their permanent voter card and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election on the 5th of December,2015”.The Bayelsa State Governor used the occasion to grant their requests, to use the Samson Siasia sports stadium for the 2015 Ndigbo Day celebration, the donation of a bus and the sum N5m to support the Ohaneze secretariat building project as well as the appointment of an Ndigbo son as his aide.
In his his remarks, the chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo in the state, Chief Anthony Uwakwe, lauded Governor Dickson for providing good governance, infrastructural development and security in the state for their businesses to thrive.
