RE: JONATHAN DUMPS DICKSON, BACKS ALAIBE; TOTAL FALSEHOOD AND A FIGMENT OF THE IMAGINATION OF THE ORCHESTRATOR – BAYELSA GOVT

The Bayelsa State Government has reacted angrily to a report making the rounds and even published in some National dailies that, former President and PDP Chieftain, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has abandoned Goveror Seriake Dickson and thrown his weight behind All Progressive Congress, APC governorship aspirant, Chief Timi Aaibe for the December 5, gubernatorial election in the State.A Government House statement described the story as false and the figment of the imagination of those orchestrating it. Debunking the report, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, blamed a governorship aspirant of the APC for spreading the falsehood to disparage the person of the former president, who has remained a loyal party leader and a staunch supporter of the second term bid of Governor Dickson. The statement reads in part; “This is total falsehood and cannot be true. Having seen the former president publicly declare his support for Dickson, the APC is just trying to divide the stronghold of the PDP, create disaffection between Dr. Jonathan, his wife Dame Patience and the Governor Dickson. These are all part of their grand design to weaken the PDP and make it an easy prey to conquer, ahead of the December polls in the State”But, if that is their mission, I can assure everybody that, they have failed woefully, because apart from publicly endorsing Governor Dickson for a second term, along with his beloved wife, Dame Patience, the former president has maintained regular communication with the Governor and hosted a number of meetings at his Otuoke country home with different political leaders and blocs across the State, where he has passionately spoken of the need for Bayelsans to rally round Hon. Dickson to actualize his re-election bid”

He noted that, the former president is a man of honour, who ought to be accorded his due respect at all times, stressing that, those that, are bent on dragging the name of the former president to the mud should desist from it, as it does not augur well for a man, who has given his all to keep the nation together.According to him, the story being peddled around is another failed attempt by the APC to create bad blood among major key players of the PDP in Bayelsa State, who have long resolved to work as a team to ensure a resounding victory for the party at the December 5, governorship election.

While, calling on the general public, especially PDP faithful and supporters of the Countryman Governor to disregard the story, the statement reaffirmed the cordial relationship existing between the former first family and the State Governor, stressing that, the PDP is united and ready to face the opposition in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
